About Little Governors' Camp

Reached by boat across the Mara River, its 17 tents ring a busy waterhole where elephants visit between courses. Balloons launch from the doorstep at dawn.

The area: The Mara Triangle

The western third of the reserve between the Mara River and the Oloololo Escarpment, managed since 2001 by the not-for-profit Mara Conservancy. It is quieter, immaculately patrolled, and its Purungat and Kichwa Tembo crossing areas see dramatic migration traffic.

What it's like

Fewer camps and fewer vehicles than the eastern reserve, strict ranger enforcement, and superb escarpment views. Roads are well maintained; cashless payment only at its gates.

Getting there & fees

Enter via Oloololo Gate or the Mara Bridge from the eastern reserve; Mara Serena and Kichwa Tembo airstrips serve the area.

Staying inside the reserve means reserve fees (US$100 Jan–Jun / US$200 Jul–Dec per non-resident adult, 12-hour tickets) apply for every day of your stay. See our Masai Mara fee guide.
