About Tor's Camp
An understated luxury camp in the riverine forest of the Olare Orok, inside the reserve itself — big-cat country minutes from the tents. Tor's Camp sits in the riverine forest along the Olare Orok, in the game-rich heart of the reserve between the Musiara and Talek sectors — leopard forest on one side, lion plains on the other. Unusually for a luxury camp, you are inside the reserve here: no morning transfer, no gate queue, straight from breakfast into big-cat country.

The tents
Mtoni double and family tents stand on raised timber platforms under the river forest canopy — proper beds, considered interiors and hot bucket-shower tradition done the comfortable way (the operating company is, after all, called Bucket Shower Safaris). Family tents pair a double with two singles, making the camp an easy fit for parents travelling with children.
Days at Tor's
Game drives run to your rhythm rather than a fixed camp schedule — full days out with picnic lunches among the herds, or shorter morning and evening drives with sundowners on the plains. Hot-air balloon flights over the reserve can be arranged, launching nearby at dawn. Evenings end with three-course dinners in the mess tent, an open-sided room that crosses Swahili-coast charm with gentleman's-club ease, the bush carrying on around it.

The area: Masai Mara National Reserve (central & east)
The reserve proper — 1,510 km² of open savanna managed by Narok County, holding the Mara and Talek rivers, Musiara Marsh and the classic migration crossing points. Camps here put you inside the action with no daily transfer through a gate.
What it's like
Highest wildlife density and the front row for July–October river crossings, balanced against more vehicles than the conservancies. Off-road driving and night drives are not permitted inside the reserve.
Getting there & fees
Fly to Musiara, Keekorok, Ol Kiombo or Mara Serena airstrips, or drive 5–6 hours from Nairobi via Narok. Reserve fees: US$100–200 per adult per day depending on season.
