The park’s drama is geological: Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower are volcanic plugs beloved of rock climbers, the Ol Njorowa gorge twists between hot springs and sculpted walls, and geothermal steam vents feed the Olkaria power stations that make this Kenya’s renewable-energy heartland. Seasons & the best time to visit
Dry months are ideal for cycling (mud stops play in the rains) and the gorge is safest then — flash floods are a real danger and rangers close it in bad weather. Start early: the valley gets hot by noon.

Birdlife
A raptor stronghold: Rüppell’s vultures and Verreaux’s eagles nest on the cliffs, augur buzzards hang overhead, and swifts pour from the gorge walls — over 100 species in a compact area.
Getting there
Ninety minutes to two hours from Nairobi on the Naivasha road; matatus and boda-bodas reach Elsa Gate from Naivasha town. Most visitors combine it with a Lake Naivasha boat trip and Crescent Island walk.
