The busy little frontier town on the reserve’s northeastern boundary, where the Talek River marks the park line. The largest cluster of independent and budget camps in the Mara sits along its banks.
What it's like
Best-value access in the ecosystem: you can be through the gate and among lions in minutes. Expect motorbikes, shops and community life alongside safari camps.
Getting there & fees
Drive from Narok (about 2.5 hours on mixed roads) or fly to Ol Kiombo airstrip, 20 minutes away.
Camps outside the gates pay reserve fees only on days you enter (US$100–200 per adult, 12-hour ticket, exit by 10am on your final day). Full details in our Masai Mara fee guide.
